This book is a small trilingual tome – one long poem with translations from Spanish to English and French.
“The book is the natural evolution of [the author´s] rapprochement to the culture that surrounds her, the plural and linguistically hybrid Caribbean to which she belongs, an act of reconstruction and reconciliation through poetry”. - Daisy Cocco de Filippis, Dominican scholar
“Vicioso “seeks the
origin of her native land and the poet herself is the island, land circled by
water, rhythm and voice tinged with silence. [. . .] she recognizes herself,
reconstructs herself in the word and sees all that is root and flight. . . She
travels, journeys: signs and myths flourish; rituals are enacted. In the local,
she becomes universal, in the ephemeral she sows eternity.”
- Adela Fernández, Dominican scholar
